Introduction

The deFT index was used to measure caries events, while birth weight was obtained from a questionnaire given to parents. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square test to determine the significance of the relationship between LBW and caries incidence.
Results
The results of this study showed that the percentage of respondents who experienced LBW in the case group was significantly higher, at 24.53%, compared to the control group, which was only 1.89%. The analysis revealed a significant relationship between LBW and caries events, with a value of P = 0.001. Furthermore, the odds ratio (OR) was found to be 16.90 (with a 95% confidence interval of 2.21-134.641), indicating that children with LBW have a 16.9 times greater risk of experiencing caries than children with normal birth weight. This study also found a significant relationship between LBW and ECC, SECC, and caries-free status, all with a value of P = 0.001.
