Introduction

Elementary school students are often the main target of food poisoning, especially because of their lack of knowledge about snacks that are safe for consumption. This situation encourages the need for effective counseling regarding food safety, especially regarding snacks that are commonly found in the environment around them. In this context, nutrition counseling through poster and film media is one of the solutions that can be considered to increase students' understanding of food safety. Nutrition counseling is a crucial aspect of promoting healthy eating habits, and its effectiveness can be enhanced by using various media, including posters and films.

Research Purpose and Significance

This study aims to evaluate the impact of nutritional counseling that uses poster and film media on food safety behavior students of elementary school students in Peusangan District, Bireuen Regency. By using a pseudo experimental research design through pre-test and post-test, researchers conduct analysis of behavioral changes after the intervention is carried out. The significance of this study lies in its potential to provide insights into the effectiveness of nutrition counseling using different media, which can inform the development of more effective health education programs.

Methodology

The sample used in this study consisted of 80 class V students, divided into two groups. Group I accepts counseling through poster media, while group II uses film media. The influence of these two types of counseling on food safety behavior is analyzed using paired T tests and non -paired T tests, with a 95% confidence level. This study employed a quasi-experimental design, which is a type of experimental design that involves manipulating one or more independent variables to observe their effect on a dependent variable.

Research Result

The results showed a significant increase (p = 0,000) in food safety behavior in both groups after receiving counseling. However, research also found that nutrition counseling using film media is more effective than poster media in improving food safety behavior among elementary school students. This finding suggests that film media may be a more effective tool for promoting healthy eating habits among children.

Based on the results of the study, it is advisable to the Bireuen District Health Office and the Bireuen District Education Office to further utilize film media in the nutritional extension program, especially regarding food safety of snacks. This is expected to be more effective in increasing students' knowledge and awareness about the importance of food safety, so as to minimize the risk of food poisoning among children. The use of film media in nutrition counseling can also be integrated with other health education programs, such as school-based health education and community-based health education.
