The Effect of Gratitude on a Decrease in Body Dissatisfaction in Adolescent Girls

Introduction

Body dissatisfaction is a significant concern among adolescent girls, affecting their mental health and well-being. This study involved 5 teenage girls aged 15-16 years, with 3 women aged 15 and 2 women aged 16 years. The research participants underwent therapy in the form of filling a daily journal about gratitude for 21 days. Measurements were made 4 times, producing 4 different score groups. The difference in score was analyzed by the Friedman test, and a value of 0.529 (ρ.sig> 0.05) was obtained.

Results

The results of the statistical test show that there is no influence of gratitude for a decrease in body dissatisfaction in the study participants. Descriptively, it appears that the value of body dissatisfaction experiences fluctuations during the therapy period. These results indicate the need for further exploration of more effective methods for fostering gratitude so as to reduce body dissatisfaction in adolescent girls.
