The data collected was analyzed descriptively and inferentially, and a hypothesis test was carried out using a path analysis to evaluate the suitability of the model through the Godness of Fit Test. Analysis of the Structural Equation Model (SEM) model is carried out using the AMOS 16.0 program.

The results showed the formation of self-care behavior models in Binjai City with good psychometric values, namely valid, reliable, and according to the model. This model consists of seven main indicators: knowledge, attitudes, communication, financing, family support, motivation, and self-efficacy. Of the seven indicators, motivation has proven to be the most significant factor contributing to self-care behavior.

Furthermore, the analysis shows a positive influence between self-care behavior on quality of life, metabolic control, and lipid control of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in the city of Binjai (p <0.05). This confirms the importance of applying good self-care behavior to achieve optimal health conditions in diabetes patients.
