Introduction

Poverty remains a significant challenge in many parts of the world, including Indonesia. The poor population in Lubuk Pakam District, Deli Serdang Regency, is no exception. This study employed a quantitative approach, using a questionnaire as the primary data collection tool. The questionnaire was distributed to 98 residents who received direct cash assistance (BLT) in Lubuk Pakam District. The sampling technique used was proportional stratified random sampling. The data analysis method applied was an econometric model with the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method.

Results

The results of this study showed that the level of education, the number of family members, and the area of agricultural land had a positive and significant influence on the income of the poor. This means that the higher the level of education, the more family members, and the wider agricultural land, the income of the poor tends to increase. Conversely, the distance to the city center had a negative and significant influence on the income of the poor, indicating that the farther the distance of the poor population from the city center, their income tends to decline.

The health access factor was found to have an influence on the income of the poor population, but the influence was not significant. This may be because most of the poor people already have health insurance and can access health services for free.
