Wilcoxon Method in Determining Significant Differences between BPJS Recipients of Contribution Assistance and Non-Receiving Contribution Assistance in North Sumatra

Introduction

The Social Security Organizing Agency (BPJS) plays a crucial role in managing the social security program in Indonesia. In North Sumatra, BPJS membership is divided into two main groups: Recipients of contribution assistance (PBI) and non-receiving contribution assistance (non-PBI). PBI participants are individuals who are entitled to receive health insurance, especially for people who are less able and in need, with contributions paid by the government. Conversely, non-PBI participants are those who pay contributions independently, both from their own pocket, employer, or other insurer. This study aims to analyze the significant difference between the percentage of the number of BPJS participants receiving contribution assistance and non-receipt of contribution assistance using the Wilcoxon method.

Background

The Wilcoxon method is a non-parametric statistical test used to compare two groups that do not have a normal distribution. This method is suitable for data generated from health surveys in the field, where the data may not follow a normal distribution. In this study, the Wilcoxon method was chosen to analyze the significant difference between PBI and non-PBI participants in North Sumatra.

Methodology

The analysis results show that the ZDitung value is -4.709, which is smaller than Z0.05 (1.96). Thus, the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, and it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between these two groups. This shows that there are significant differences in access or quality of health services received by PBI participants compared to non-PBI participants in North Sumatra.
