The Impact of Pandemi Covid-19 on Education

The Pandemi Covid-19 has brought about a significant shift in the educational landscape, including at the Faculty of Nursing, University of North Sumatra (USU). The policy of physical and social distancing has led to the adoption of online learning, which presents new challenges for students, particularly for those who are just starting their lectures. A study conducted at USU aims to understand the level of anxiety of new students of the Faculty of Nursing in dealing with online learning during the Pandemic period.

Research Methodology

The research used a quantitative approach with a descriptive design, involving all new students of the Faculty of Nursing (Total Sampling). The results of the study show that most of the new students (64.4%) are in the normal category, not experiencing anxiety. However, as many as 38.6% experienced mild anxiety. This indicates that although most new students can adapt to online learning, there are still some who feel pressure and anxiety.

Factors that Cause Anxiety

The results of this study indicate that although they do not experience severe anxiety, some new students still feel mild to moderate anxiety. Factors that trigger this condition are most likely related to difficulties in the online learning process. The following are some of the factors that might trigger anxiety in new students during online learning:

Learning online reduces opportunities to build social connections and get support from the lecture environment. This can lead to feelings of isolation and disconnection, which can contribute to anxiety.
