Introduction

Methodology

The three types of glass used in this study are clear glass with 93% transparency, rayben glass with 40% transparency, and non-transparent white paint glass. To minimize heat loss to the environment, the sides of the collector were coated with insulators from Glasswool. At the top of the collector, there was a water circulation container to keep the environment constant during the test. The heat source in the absorber plate used an electromagnetic heater, with a temperature variation in the plate of 80 ℃, 100 ℃, and 120 ℃.

Results

The results showed that the transparency of the cover glass had a significant effect on the rate of heat transfer in a flat plate collector. Theoretically, the rate of heat transfer in clear glass cover, both one or two layers, is higher than the rayben glass and white paint glass. In addition, in practice, the power value of the glass cover is clear, both one or two layers, is also greater than the rayben glass and white paint glass.
