Introduction

The Medan Area University Library has been utilizing the Slims Software (Library Management Information Service System) to automate its library management processes. This automation system has been integrated with all faculty library branches, aiming to provide fast and accurate information to users and increase efficiency in the library management process. However, despite the benefits provided by this system, there are still some deficiencies that need attention. This study aims to evaluate the library automation system using the Pieces framework, which includes performance, information, economy, control, efficiency, and services provided to users.

Methodology

This study employed a descriptive qualitative method, which included in-depth interviews and direct observations. The data collected from these methods were then analyzed to reveal and describe various aspects of the library automation system. The study aimed to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the existing system and provide recommendations for improvement.
