Introduction

Fire is one of the most significant disasters that can threaten the safety and sustainability of a company's operations. PT. PLN (Persero) Riau Region and Riau Islands Pekanbaru Area, being a major power company, is not immune to the risks of fire. In 2018, the company experienced a fire incident caused by burning garbage near the rear warehouse, which quickly spread and devoured a number of materials in the warehouse. Additionally, other fires were also triggered by cigarette butts that were not well managed. These events highlight the importance of adequate fire protection systems to prevent and reduce the impact of fire.

Background of the Study

Fire risk analysis is a crucial aspect of ensuring the safety and sustainability of a company's operations. It involves identifying potential fire hazards, assessing the likelihood and potential impact of fires, and implementing measures to prevent and mitigate the effects of fires. In Indonesia, the government has established regulations and standards to ensure the safety of buildings and facilities, including the fire protection system. The Indonesian National Standards (SNI) and PU Regulation No. 26/PRT/M/2008 are two of the key regulations that govern the fire protection system in Indonesia.

Methodology

This study employed a qualitative approach to analyze the fire risk based on the fire protection system implemented at PT. PLN (Persero) Riau Region and Riau Islands Area Pekanbaru. The data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document review. The observation was conducted to identify the physical condition of the fire protection system, including the fire alarm system, fire extinguishers, and fire hydrants. The in-depth interviews were conducted with employees and management personnel to gather information on the company's fire safety protocols and procedures. The document review involved analyzing the company's fire safety policies, procedures, and records.

Results

The results of the study showed that of the 40 elements of the requirements analyzed, 34 elements (85%) were declared in accordance with established standards, while 6 elements (15%) did not meet the criteria. This indicates that despite the level of suitability of the fire protection system at PT. PLN (Persero) being classified as good, there are still aspects that need to be improved so that the risk of fire can be minimized.

Fire Risk Categorization

The fire risk categorization resulting from this analysis shows that the level of risk of expanding fires is in the category of moderate risk (moderate risk). This categorization indicates that although potential fires can occur, the impact can still be treated with appropriate precautions. One of the recommended risk control steps is through substitution, which is to replace flammable materials with safer materials, as well as the application of technical control, such as repairs in the fire detection and extinguishing system.

Conclusion

In conclusion, appropriate precautions and control measures are needed to reduce the possibility of fire and the impact it causes. PT. PLN (Persero) is expected to be able to conduct a continuous evaluation of their fire protection systems so that they can operate more safely and efficiently, maintain employee safety, and protect company assets. Increasing awareness of the importance of fire safety protocols also needs to be integrated in the company's work culture in order to create a safer work environment for all parties.

Recommendations

Based on the findings of this study, the following recommendations are made:
