Introduction

In the context of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), the quality of corporate governance disclosure can significantly impact the company's reputation, investor confidence, and ultimately, its financial performance. This study aims to examine the factors that influence the disclosure of corporate governance through the website in manufacturing companies listed on the IDX in 2010.

Methodology

This study employed a quantitative approach to analyze the factors that influence the disclosure of corporate governance through the website in manufacturing companies listed on the IDX in 2010. The study collected data from 86 manufacturing companies listed on the IDX, which were selected based on their availability of corporate governance information on their websites. The study analyzed six key factors that may influence the quality of corporate governance disclosure, namely:

Company size: The size of the company, measured by its total assets, was expected to have a significant influence on the quality of corporate governance disclosure.
Profitability (ROE): The return on equity (ROE) of the company was expected to have a positive influence on the quality of corporate governance disclosure.
Leverage: The level of debt financing used by the company was expected to have a negative influence on the quality of corporate governance disclosure.
Asset utilization: The efficiency of the company's asset utilization was expected to have a positive influence on the quality of corporate governance disclosure.
Issuance of new shares: The issuance of new shares by the company was expected to have a positive influence on the quality of corporate governance disclosure.
Composition of the Board of Directors: The composition of the Board of Directors, including the number of independent directors and the presence of a CEO who is also a director, was expected to have a positive influence on the quality of corporate governance disclosure.

Results

The results of the study showed that company size had a significant influence on the quality of corporate governance disclosure through the website. Larger companies tend to be more transparent in expressing information related to their corporate governance. This can be interpreted that a larger company feels that it has a greater responsibility to maintain transparency and accountability to stakeholders.

However, this study also found that other factors such as ROE, Leverage, Utilization of Assets, Publishing of New Shares, and Composition of the Board of Directors did not show a significant effect on the quality of corporate governance disclosure. This shows that other factors beyond the factors studied in this study may play a role in determining the quality of disclosure of corporate governance through the website.

Discussion

The findings of this study have several implications for manufacturing companies listed on the IDX. Firstly, the study suggests that company size is an important factor in determining the quality of corporate governance disclosure. Larger companies tend to be more transparent in expressing information related to their corporate governance, which can be interpreted as a greater responsibility to maintain transparency and accountability to stakeholders.

However, the study also found that other factors such as profitability, leverage, asset utilization, issuance of new shares, and the composition of the Board of Directors do not have a significant influence on the quality of corporate governance disclosure. This suggests that other factors beyond the factors studied in this study may play a role in determining the quality of disclosure of corporate governance through the website.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this research shows that company size has an important role in encouraging the disclosure of corporate governance through the website. However, other factors such as profitability, leverage, asset utilization, issuance of new shares, and the composition of the Board of Directors have no significant influence. Further research is needed to explore other factors that may play a role in encouraging manufacturing companies to improve the quality of disclosure of corporate governance through the website.

This study has several limitations that should be noted. Firstly, the study only focused on 2010, which may not reflect the current trend and influence of these factors.
