Results

The results showed a significant difference in the time of wound healing between each treatment group. The average wound healing time for each group is as follows: K- (without treatment) 8 days, K+ (Povidone iodine) 9.2 days, PI (15% extract) 7.6 days, PII (30% extract) 8.4 days, and PIII (45% extract) 9.4 days, with a value of P = 0.048 (p < 0.05). This shows that biwa leaf extract at a concentration of 15% (PI) is the most effective in accelerating the wound healing process compared to other groups.

Histological Observations

Histological observations also show that the PI treatment group has an average epithelial thickness, a higher number of fibroblasts, and lymphocytes compared to other treatment groups. Larger epithelial thickness shows that the tissue regeneration process takes place faster, which is very important in wound healing.
