Methodology

This study was conducted in Jatisuma Village, Namorambe District, Deli Serdang Regency, Indonesia, with a height of ± 105 meters above sea level and pH 4.4. The study used a random group design and involved four soybean varieties (Demas 1, Ring 1, Devon 1, and Anjasmoro) and four doses of Kieserit fertilizer (0, 50, 100, and 150 kg/ha). The study was conducted from June to September 2019.

Results

The results of this study showed that Anjasmoro varieties had the most significant response to the application of Kieserit fertilizer, with a plant height 2-6 weeks after planting and the weight of 100 seeds. The application of Kieserit fertilizer with a dose of 150 kg/ha also gave positive results, with the diameter of the stem and the highest number of pods. Interestingly, there was an interaction between varieties and Kieserit fertilizer in the number of empty pods. Anjasmoro varieties without the administration of Kieserit fertilizer showed the lowest number of empty pods.

The results of this study indicate that Anjasmoro varieties have great potential to increase soybean production, especially in land conditions in Jatisuma Village. In addition, the use of Kieserit fertilizer with optimal doses can increase growth and yields. The advantages of Anjasmoro varieties include better genetic properties in absorbing nutrients, which can lead to faster growth and more seeds.
